05-DEC-2025  |  New Developments

Research and teaching are going well. In the last exercise of the quantum field theory course, the Bethe logarithm is calculated, as an example of a nontrivial radiative (quantum electrodynamic) correction to the energy levels of bound hydrogenic states. Papers on a novel bound system (deuteronium) have been accepted for publication; the respective bound system of a deuteron and its antiparticle is an extremely sensitive probe for “New Physics” effects in the low-energy sector of the Standard Model. A collaboration with the group of Dylan Yost at Colorado State University has led to new results which have been submitted for publication.

03-DEC-2025  |  Research Award

Ulrich Jentschura received the Faculty Research Award on campus, for the performance period 07/2023 to 06/2025. A total of 18 refereed papers were published in relatively well-known physics journals, and a number of fundamental physical problems could be solved.

01-OCT-2025  |  Lecture

The lecture on “Special Topics / Quantum Field Theory” in the fall semester 2025 exposes graduate, and motivated undergraduate, students, to the intricacies of field quantization, and the calculation of dynamic processes whose formulation relies on quantized fields. The subject matter is challenging, the students are highly motivated.
